The Flight

A typical orientation flight begins with arrival at the airfield and a comprehensive pre-flight briefing covering safety procedures and what to expect. You then gear up in a flight suit and helmet before climbing into the rear cockpit. During the flight, you experience a range of aerobatic maneuvers and high-performance flying. After landing, a debrief session completes the experience.

Flight duration varies by program and aircraft, typically ranging from 15 to 60 minutes of actual flight time. The total experience, including briefing, gear-up, and debrief, usually lasts several hours. Longer flight programs offer more time for advanced maneuvers and extended high-altitude segments.

In many programs, participants can take the controls under the direct supervision of the professional pilot during certain phases of the flight. The pilot remains in full command at all times and will guide you through basic maneuvers if conditions and the program allow.

Depending on the aircraft and program selected, maneuvers may include rolls, loops, high-G turns, split-S maneuvers, and Immelmann turns. In supersonic programs with the MiG-21 or F-104 Starfighter in Florida, breaking the sound barrier is also possible. The specific maneuver profile is discussed during the pre-flight briefing and can be adjusted based on participant preference.

Yes. Supersonic fighter jet flights are available in Florida, USA. The MiG-21 offers supersonic capability, and the F-104 Starfighter can reach Mach 2 -- making it the fastest aircraft available to civilians. Supersonic flights start from $15,000.

Edge of space flights are not currently available. These flights previously required a specific aircraft type that is no longer part of the available lineup. The highest-altitude experiences currently offered are supersonic flights in the MiG-21 and F-104 Starfighter in Florida.

Safety & Requirements

All fighter jet flights are conducted with certified professional pilots, properly maintained aircraft, and established safety procedures. Every flight includes a comprehensive safety briefing before departure. The aircraft used for these experiences have long track records in both military and civilian flight operations.

Participants should be in generally good health. Height and weight limits vary by aircraft type. Severe heart conditions and certain medical conditions may preclude participation. The minimum age is typically 18 years old, though this may vary by location.

No prior aviation experience is needed. Fighter jet flight experiences are specifically designed for participants with no flight training or background. The pre-flight briefing covers everything you need to know to enjoy the experience safely.

If weather conditions are not suitable for safe flight, the experience will be rescheduled to the next available date. Clear conditions are required for fighter jet flights. Safety is always the top priority, and the final decision to fly rests with the pilot.
